Granville County comes out on top at NC State Fair

Granville county locals are flocking to this years North Carolina State Fair, and some are coming back as winners. David Blackwell, his daughter-in-law Joy Lee Blackwell and sister Ruth Coats all deemed the, Granville County Loopers, won the Tobacco Tying Contest for the second year in a row! David, who is 94, says "it's hard work, but he likes it" and is carrying on the tradition of a tobacco farmer. A tradition that is long steeped in Granville County history. Other winners at this year's fair include the Granville County 4H club, celebrating a 2nd place win in the Sweepstakes Arts & Crafts Competition as well as 4th place in the Hay Bale decorating contest.
