The Creedmoor Parks & Recreation Department invites you to participate in Creedmoor’s National Day of Play scheduled for Saturday, May 9th, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Battle Roberts Ball Fields and the Creedmoor Gymnasium & Activity Center located off of Wilton Avenue in Creedmoor.
There is a whole day of indoor and outdoor activities planned for all ages such as; Pony Rides, Nerf Softball, Cornhole, Table Tennis (Ping Pong), Horseshoes, Basketball Shooting, and even a few old fashioned kids’ games like Limbo, Hula Hoops, and “Simon Says”! Organizers have also contracted national talent from New Jersey for the feature presentation: The Chris Clark Bicycle Stunt Show! The show will feature professional stunt cyclist Chris Clark, who has competed round the world and entertained thousands at events like the Gravity Games, the New York Times Square Parade and even at the Olympic Games!
Creedmoor’s Day of Play will start at 10:00 in the morning with games and activities on the ball fields and in the gymnasium just next door. A variety of food options will be available via Mobile Food Trucks, and the first of two performances scheduled that day by Chris Clark will start at 11:00! The show is a breathtaking display of balance and agility as Chris maneuvers his bike and body over custom built ramps and obstacles! Afterwards he will be available to answer questions and sign autographs!
In between shows, kids, adults, and families can participate in various games and activities, and enjoy the taste of Carolina cookin’ by Dawg Commander and Sweet Traditions’ Mobile Cupcake Food Trucks! We plan to have plenty to eat and just enough treats! The second show will start at 2:00 p.m., giving folks who might have missed Chris Clark’s Stunt Show a chance to see his nationally recognized bicycle skills; and even those who attended the morning show can stick around and see it again! There is no charge for admission into the event; but plan to bring a little cash for food and treats!
Parking will be available in front of the Gymnasium & Activity Center, the overflow parking area beside the Senior Center, and at Creedmoor Elementary School - just a skip and a jump away on the City’s new sidewalk! Be sure to bring a folding chair or blanket to rest on, some sunscreen, and a family ready for some fun! The Creedmoor Parks and Recreation Department and the Parks and Recreation Committee will be there to socialize and oversee activities. If the weather forecast looks “a little cloudy” the event will proceed as planned; but if the event is cancelled due to thunderstorms-the “Rain Date” will be the following day, May 10th. Stay tuned on the City’s website and Facebook page for updates.
National Day of Play is a nationwide event that takes place across the country in designated “Playful City” communities. Creedmoor is celebrating our 8th year as a designated “Playful City”. Creedmoor was the first city in North Carolina to receive this designation back in 2007, and the City continues to build more focus on “play spaces and opportunities for play” in the City. The aim of National Play Day is to help increase public awareness of the importance of play in our daily lives, especially children!
COME OUT & PLAY IN CREEDMOOR, and bring the entire family to gather with friends and neighbors for a fun-filled day planned just for YOU! For more information about the event, log on to the City’s website at www.cityofcreedmoor.org
