On September 23,the Town of Butner will come to life with a nostalgic WWII atmosphere as we salute the 75th Anniversary of one of our Nations’ largest WWII training camps, Camp Butner. Opened in 1942, the Camp trained over 40,000 troops on a 40,000-acre military training facility for combat in the European and Pacific Theaters.
Bring a chair or stand along the parade route to view vintage military vehicles; presentations by military dignitaries and a Camp Butner historian will reflect on the Camp’s history; visit reenactment camps; tour historic Camp Butner sites, and more. Please join us as we celebrate this memorable occasion. Saturday’s events begin at 10:00 AM. The Friday Sept. 22nd dinner is sold out.
